8th Grade Class Tour Letters

The below letters represent a typical response from teachers and students after touring the Suttons Corner Fontier Country Store Museum. This particular group were 8th grade history students from Southwest Georgia.

Dear Mr. & Mrs Campbell,

What a great time we had visiting with you and touring the museum! I think you'll be able to tell from the kid's letters how much they enjoyed themselves. By the way, it was their idea to write to you individually.

I hope we can visit again soon. Thanks so much for having us.

Sincerely, Greta

Dear Mr. Campbell,

Our visit to your museum was very nice. We thank you for letting us come; you have some very interesting things in your museum. I hope we will be able to come again to visit your museum, it was like walking into a whole different world. I liked it when you told the story about the children rubbing up against the counter. I liked it also when you said that when you held the stone that you could actually feel their handprint in the rock; I thought that was really neat. I wish that we could have stayed longer so that you could have told us more stories. Thanks!

Melissa Sanders

Dear Mr. Campbell,

May I say thank you for all the hard work you put into your museum. It was amazing to see all the different artifacts. I have to say my favorite part of the trip was how you had a story behind every different treasure in the Suttons Corner Country Store Museum. When I told my little sister about all the different things I saw, like the petticoat counter, the Indian artifacts and the old-fashioned post office, she was astounded. The first thing she did was go and ask my mom when she will go. I hope we shall see you again.

Sincerely, Scott Grubbs

Dear Mr. Campbell,

Our visit to your museum was wonderful. It was really nice of you to let us come. I really enjoyed all the stories you told us. I especially enjoyed the story about the drummer boy and the drumstick. You had so much nice stuff and a story to go with almost every thing. I really liked it and thank you for having us.

Sincerely, Krystal Cadle

Dear Mr. Campbell,

We we went to your museum Thursday, there was lots of old stuff there that I haven't seen on the Antiques Roadshow. I liked all the stories. The one that was strange was how the children rubbed the counter at a curve. I also liked the old gun above the fireplace; I don't know what it was. Thank you for letting us come.

Sincerely, Brian Poole

Dear Mr. Campbell,

I really enjoyed the visit to your wonderful museum. All of the artifacts you had there were very well preserved. I liked the story about the drum stick; it very touching.

Sincerely, Tony House

Dear Mr. Campbell,

I really enjoyed the tour of the museum. I learned a lot about the past. I'm ready for it to be open to the public so my parents can see it. I was particularly interested in the post office. I had always wondered where they got their mail back then. Thank you for letting us visit.

Sincerely, Bobby Goodbread

Dear Mr. Campbell,

We enjoyed our visit to museum so much. It was like a different world inside. The stories you told about everything made it seem more interesting. I was especially fascinated by the way the candy counter was curved from the children leaning against it. The story about your trip to China was funny. Again, thank you for taking us through your museum.

Sincerely, Mollie Sisson
